Polythene film is a sheet of plastic less than 2.5mm thick. Normally applied as a packaging material to cover or wrap products. Polythene film can be manufactured clear or coloured, with a printed logo or text, single or multi-layered.

Polythene Manufacturing

Polythene film is produced using a blown film process. Plastic pellets are melted and then extruded through a circular die gap forming a plastic tube. The polythene tube is then cut open at one end, inflated and stretched to the desired size and thickness.

This process is used to manufacture polythene film that can be as thin as .0004 inch to thicknesses beyond .01 inch. Pellets containing pigment are blended with the clear pellets to give the polythene film various different colours. Good equipment that maintains a consistent flow of polythelene throughout the process will produce high quality film.

Layflat Tubing

Layflat tubing or film on the roll is a flexible and economical form of packaging. LFT is perfect for packing products of the same width but varying in height or long items. Layflat tubing is generally provided in as a roll of continuous film.

Shrink Covers

Shrink wrap, or shrink film, is made with high strength shrink grade polythene film. Ideal for warehousing to use as pallet covers. After shrink film is heated it will shrink tightly leaving no gaps or holes on the packaging perfect to protect whatever it covers.

Stretch Wrap

Stretch wrap, also know as pallet raps, is another great way to protect items. As the name says, work differently than shrink film but offer just as much protection. Stretch wrap is pulled around the load and stretched providing a elastic band effect that will hold the load tight together. Pallet wraps offer excellent load holding force and puncture resistance to protects your goods during warehousing and transport.
